Most terraces in the Region of Bern are built on ground that has to drain, in a climate that swings between frost and thaw all winter. We advise on the build as much as on the board, supply from our Swiss warehouse and install on request.
— WPC IN BERN
On garden terraces, as privacy fencing between properties or across larger outdoor surfaces — in Bern and the surrounding area we deliver WPC decking (wood-plastic composite, often called composite decking) from our Swiss warehouse and handle the installation on request. Advice, delivery and installation stay with one company, from the first consultation to the finished surface.
WPC decking combines the warm look of wood with far less upkeep: no painting, straightforward cleaning, weather-resistant surfaces. Which board suits your project — colour, profile, joist spacing — is something we work out with you during the consultation, based on the technical attributes listed for that board.
— APPLICATIONS IN BERN
From family homes to commercial projects — the right solution from our assortment for every outdoor surface.
Low-maintenance terraces and privacy screens for the family home — no annual coat of paint.
Hard-wearing surfaces for guest terraces and outdoor areas in daily use.
A consistent look across balconies and shared outdoor areas of multi-unit buildings.
Project quantities, special lengths and technical attributes straight from the product page.
From the first question to the finished surface — four things you can count on when planning a WPC terrace with us.
Joist spacing, board dimensions, weight per square metre: every figure we give you is read off that board’s technical attributes, never estimated. The installation instructions belong to the same document set and come with the delivery.
The joist spacing stated in the specification defines how the substructure underneath is built. On a garden terrace it sets the bearer grid; on a balcony or roof surface it goes into the planning together with the load limit of the structure.
A terrace in the Mittelland takes damp, fog and freeze-thaw all year round. WPC needs no oiling and no painting — water, a brush and a mild cleaner are the routine, once or twice a year.
Building yourself, working with your own tradesperson, or handing over the whole job: we go through surface, use and substructure with you and narrow down profile and colour on that basis, instead of leaving you to guess across the whole assortment.
— WPC IN THE MITTELLAND
Bern’s grey season is long — fog over the Aare valley, drizzle, surfaces that stay wet for days — and its winters rarely stay frozen, thawing by day and freezing by night. That cycling is harder on a terrace than steady cold. WPC absorbs very little water and needs no protective coat; what decides durability is the build: a ventilated substructure laid with a fall, correct gaps between the boards, and water that can always drain away. On south-facing terraces there is one more consideration — darker boards look calm and considered but warm up more than light ones, and the sample box lets you judge colour in real daylight before anything is ordered.
Under a garden terrace, the ground does most of the work. A compacted, free-draining base — gravel rather than bare earth — moves water away from the house instead of holding it, and the bearers rest on adjustable supports instead of sitting directly on the soil. Where the terrace meets the façade, a gap keeps the boards off the wall so both sides dry after rain. We work the base out with you before the boards are chosen, and on request our installation service builds it.

That is the right question for the Mittelland, where terraces thaw by day and freeze by night for weeks. The material absorbs very little water and needs no protective coat. What decides durability is the build: a ventilated substructure, a fall, and drainage that stays free — the points we check with you on site.
WPC boards expand and contract with temperature, so both the board gaps and the distance to walls and fixed edges are set by the manufacturer’s figures for that profile — they are in the installation instructions supplied with the board. Getting these right is what keeps the surface flat over the years.
A load-bearing, level base with a slight fall, a ventilated cavity under the boards so moisture never sits, and bearers set at the joist spacing given in that board’s specification. On a gravel bed the bearers usually sit on adjustable supports. We work the layout out for your surface before you order.
Two ways in, depending on how far along you are. If you already know the area and where the surface sits, send those figures through the contact form — photos help — and we come back with a recommendation and a quote. If you are still choosing colours, order the free sample box first and decide with the boards in hand.
